Couldn’t put it down read it in a day. Love how feisty Mary is.,

This story highlighted the prejudice that some have to overcome and the courage it takes to call it out when you see it. It was a little trite on some of the details hence a 4 star rating.

Overall, this book was good. But the simulated sex scene was tasteless. It is not romantic to be raped and reliving it with person you trust would not help to adjust better. I just didn’t get this part.

Re-enacting her sexual assault was messed up. Whole part could’ve been left out, added absolutely nothing to the story.

I was fully invested in the story and characters until Wolf decided to play chase and mimic Mary’s sexual adult to help her move on from her trauma. Then the villain is a developmentally disabled person. So inappropriate. Doesn’t stand the test of time.

Is this my eighth or fifteenth time reading this book? I can’t remember. All I know is I reread it every few years. Yes, I love and enjoy it that much.

Loved the book. All the books I have read by Linda Howard have been great. Would definitely recommend.

The book grabbed me from the start as Mary traversed up MacKenzie’s mountain to ascertain why a “top” student quit school. As the story unfolds and the prejudice, rape, and injustice toward Wolf MacKenzie rears its ugly face...it’s obvious Wolf, Mary and Joe have much to overcome. Though this book was written back in 1989 the circumstances are still prevalent and relatable today.

Linda Howard is a fabulous writer. I stayed up late just to finish the book.

I have read each one of the Mackenzie's stories and loved them all.
