Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

One day, sad cubicle dweller and otherwise bored New York transplant Hannah Hart decided, as a joke, to make a fake cooking show for her friend back in California. She turned on the camera, pulled out some bread and cheese, and then, as one does, started drinking. (Doesn't everyone cook with a spoon in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other?) The video went viral and an online sensation was born.

My Drunk Kitchen includes recipes, stories, full color photos, and drawings to inspire your own culinary adventures in tipsy cooking. It is also a showcase for Hannah Hart's great comedic voice. Hannah offers key drink recommendations, cooking tips (like, remember to turn the oven off when you go to bed) and shares never-before-seen recipes such as:
The Hartwich (Knowledge is ingenuity! Learn from the past!)Can Bake (Inventing things is hard! You don't have to start from scratch!)Latke Shotkas (Plan ahead to avoid a night of dread!)Tiny Sandwiches (Size doesn't matter! Aim to satisfy.)Saltine Nachos (It's not about resources! It's about being resourceful.)
This is a book for anyone who believes they have what it takes to make a soufflé for the holiday party and show up the person who apparently has nothing better to do than bake things from scratch. It also recommends the drink you'll need to accompany any endeavor of this magnitude. In the end, My Drunk Kitchen may not be your go-to guide for your next dinner party . . . but it will make you laugh and drink . . . I mean think . . . about life.

This book has no point. No actual recipes. It's awful.
  • Immersive and honest

I’ve been a long time viewer of Hannah’s channel, and after seeing so much of her work, it’s obvious that the best of it is in this book. All of her most prodigious moments and clearest insights are here; it is produced in a way that adds a mature credence to her advice all while staying true to her brand of comedy and values. The memoir portion of the novel is seamlessly interwoven with her recipes with a narrative voice so her own that it is impossible not to hear her reading aloud as if you were in one of her videos. Not to mention the high quality design of the book itself. High resolution photos of food are practically porn, and the photos of herself manage to look planned, yet candid at the same time. The honesty and joy of her personality shines through in this work. All around, well done.
  • Punny and Perfect

"My Drunk Kitchen" is one of those books where the cover gives a good representation of what is to come: simply Hannah Hart. I've been watching Hannah on YouTube for a couple of years now. Maybe several? Anyways, since her pre-DSLR days. This books is a compilation of all those videos, anecdotes, and (of course) puns. It gets real about life, while making it impossible to resist the smile creeping onto your face. I wouldn't call it a true cookbook, or an advice book, but more of a life book. Life is about ups and downs, making the best of things, embracing the unexpected, and eating your way through it all. This book is perfect for the beach, the bus, or your bedroom. So, download it or grab a copy at your local bookstore and get ready to eat and read to your heart's content.
