It was early in the morning when rancher Jim McCall and his driving team were getting ready to set off with the 3,000 cattle. The sun slowly rose over the vast Texas prairies, bathing everything in a warm golden light.
"Come on boys, time to go," Jim called out as he saddled his horse and the other cowboys tended to their horses. The men looked tired, but also full of anticipation for the journey ahead.
"3000 cattle, it's going to be a long and hard journey," said one of the cowboys, stretching to get on his horse.
"But it's worth it, the prices in Dodge City are good and we'll certainly make a good profit," Jim replied and signaled to set off.
"So, let's go!" shouted Pete, the foreman.
