Description

As a result of his hard exterior and lonely tendencies, Tyler Steele finds himself a single father alone in the world - until a stranger and her daughter show up and change his life.
Third generation Texas Ranger Tyler Steele is the last of a dying breed-- a modern day cowboy hero living in a world that doesn't quite understand his powerful sense of right and wrong and instinct to defend those who can't defend themselves. Despite his strong moral compass, Ty has trouble seeing his greatest weakness. His hard outer shell, the one essential to his work, made him incapable of forging the emotional connection his wife Andie so desperately needed.

Now retired, rasing their son Brodie on his own, and at risk of losing his ranch, Ty does not know how to rebuild from the rubble of his life. The answer comes in the form of Samantha and her daughter Hope, on the run from a seemingly inescapable situation. They are in danger, desperate, and alone. Though they are strangers, Ty knows he can help-- protecting the innocent is what he does best. As his relationship with Sam and Hope unfolds, Ty realizes he must confront his true weaknesses if he wants to become the man he needs to be.

  • What was the editor thinking!?

I do not know how this book was published without an editor taking out all of the painful details that were completely unnecessary. One example, what was the significance of Hope, a ten year old girl, using a bidet??? And it was mentioned several times! Creepy. And the silly things Hope wrote in her journal was weird. What was the point of filling up so much of the book with juvenile content? Also, who goes swimming with their cowboy boots on? I’ve read books by Charles Martin before so I was expecting a better book but in addition to these few mentioned absurdities, there were many more cringeworthy parts. I do not recommend. The book could have been much better without so many STRANGE insignificant details.

This is the second book I’ve read by Mr. Martin and it’s definitely another incredible and extraordinary piece of literature. The way he has developed and utilized, HOPE-actually the most important character in the story, is so ingenious and heartfelt u have to read this book to understand. Soooo worth the money and time- a super MUST read! U will want to experience more of this author for sure. JB -Thank u Mr. Martin. 👏👏👏👍🤩🙏

Every Charles Martin story pulls you in and won't let you stop reading until the very last page. I highly recommend this book as a clean read that goes much deeper than many of the superficial storylines that inundate the bookshelves today.
