Description

A former Marine with nothing left to lose. A prosecutor on the run. Forced to trust each other… or risk everything.

A pulse-pounding romantic thriller from bestselling author Amanda McKinney.

Perfect for fans of high-stakes romance, alpha protectors, and explosive secrets.

After a brutal roadside attack, prosecutor Niki Avery is forced into hiding at a remote security compound deep in the wilderness. She has no choice but to submit to the protection of a former Marine—a loose cannon with a temper as scorching as his looks.

Gage Steele never wanted to return to his small hometown, let alone take over his late father’s elite security firm. But the moment he lays eyes on Niki, he’s hooked.

As cracks begin to show in the Steele family—including new evidence that their father’s death was no accident—Gage wrestles with growing feelings for his client, knowing Niki is strictly off-limits.

But when danger closes in, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her…
Even if it means losing everything else.

If I was in need of protection I’d definitely want a Steele brother to be my protector. From the moment you start reading the story does not let up. The family cohesion and the way they are always there for each other makes the company aspect work well. Of course there’s the person who needs help and that part of the story seemed a bit quick but it’s more like it’s not the point of the plot anymore. It’s the setup to get the main protagonist and the object of his affection together. It does make for good storytelling by the wrap-up instead of drawing it out. There’s a twist at the end that was a 50/50 chance of happening. But it just makes you want to know what happens next. It’s a good read, especially if you can’t sleep. Though this won’t help you fall asleep, it’ll keep you up wanting to know, how’s it end.

Totally awesome book. The danger just keeps coming and coming but they can’t figure out from where and who to trust. Couldn’t put it down.
