Description

New York Times Bestseller

Like Bridget Jones’ Diary but all true— a wildly funny, occasionally heartbreaking memoir from the funny, sharp British journalist and podcast host, who Elizabeth Gilbert calls “a sparkling Roman candle of talent.”

“The older you get, the more baggage you carry. When you date at twenty-five, everyone walks into the bar with a very neat, light carry-on. When you date from thirty onwards, get ready to meet someone absolutely brimming with history, complications and demands.”

When it comes to the trials and triumphs of becoming an adult, writer Dolly Alderton has seen and tried it all. In her memoir, she vividly recounts falling in love, finding a job, getting drunk, getting dumped, and that absolutely no one can ever compare to her best girlfriends. Everything I Know About Love is about bad dates, good friends and—above all else— realizing that you are enough.

Glittering with wit and insight, heart and humor, Dolly Alderton’s unforgettable debut weaves together personal stories, satirical observations, a series of lists, recipes, and other vignettes that will strike a chord of recognition with women of every age.

Just not relatable to my lifestyle, too many personal stories and chaos for me. Good read though!

This book was hard to follow and didn’t make sense. I never understood the point she was trying to make - it was like the book had ADD

  • Amazing Read!!!

I read this while I was in college and it was too relatable. She references that phase of her life within the text and it was thoroughly validating and reassuring as she continues to speak about life after and beyond her youth. I absolutely loved this memoir and have recommended it to all of my friends and family members. Especially my female companions. :)

Dolly expressed my exact feelings in a way that I could never put out myself! Such a great read for someone in their late 20s who feels like their life is in limbo.

Dolly encapsulates the joyful memories of youth with the daunting anxieties of age in a clever, witty and artfully written novel. I loved the way she closed each chapter with something to take from it and ranged in topics. By the end, my definition of love felt like it was healed in a time I needed most. Uplifting and real, 5 stars!
