This story has hoax written all over it. Inconsistencies, hype, and factual inaccuracies. The Author's first book might have been well reviewed and appreciated, but this book is just BS.

Kurson was amazing in his book Shadow Divers so I bought this. Unfortunately, it is no where near his previous work and the story doesn't remotely match up. So if you're a first timer to Kurson, read Shadow Divers instead.

Having loved Robert Kurson's first book -- the unparalleled mystery/history "Shadow Divers", about a pair of divers who found and identified a Nazi U-boat off the coast of New Jersey in the 1990s -- as well as "Crashing Through", the fascinating story of a blind man regaining his sight after decades of success without it, I was excited to read about the latest odyssey of one of the protagonists of that first book, the diver John Chatterton. Kurson once again tells a gripping story by bringing the reader into the motivations, experiences and thought processes of a team attempting what had only been done once before -- finding a sunken pirate ship. Through myriad twists and unexpected challenges they ultimately have to think like the pirate who led the ship -- who was not a typical pirate but rather a respected English sea captain who for some reason went rogue and stole his ship, The Golden Fleece. You won't be able to put it down!

I had no clue this book was a documentary when I purchased it... I thought it would be a Clive cuss let or lee child similar adventure - disappointed that I did not read research it before purchasing- no other reviews were displayed- so I took a chance- read the first 100 pages or so and wrote this review. Can I have my money back? LOL
