Jack & McKenna story in One More Time is an excellent story. I loved how they met on the ferry just before the wedding of her brother Kenan. Jack becomes her knight in shining armor when he comes to McKenna’s aid an introduces himself as her boyfriend to her ex from high school and they become friends. This story deals with bullying and dating someone just because the family is well known and the effects it has on their adult relationships. The story is emotional and is heartwarming and you will love McKenna. I throughly enjoyed reading this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

4.5 Stars This is book 4 in the Fireweed Harbor series and it features Jack Hamilton and McKenna Cannon. Their meeting was unconventional to say the least but their chemistry was OFF THE CHARTS! They each have their issues for not getting into serious entanglements but when your chemistry is this strong, can you even resist. This was a fantastic story with amazing characters. I really NEED to find out what happens with Derek! Hopefully he’ll get his own story or at least we’ll hear about him in someone else’s story. I’m not sure how this author does it but her stories are always fresh, which keeps me coming back for more.

Jack and McKenna’s story has them meeting at her bro’s wedding. They both have past that shaped their perspective on relationships. But what they don’t count on is chemistry and hormones.

It started with a black eye and a wedding. It kept getting more and more interesting -- meetings and passion. Friends and family, secrets and communication. Possibilities. I am new to the Fireweed Harbor but I will have to change that. I have followed several other series by JH Croix and they are all very good. Bravo!. I loved reading this book. Each chapter further solidified my feelings. The characters had my attention from the moment they met. That scene was priceless and felt realistic. The way the author crafted their journey was such an intriguing ride. Great story.

McKenna had a boyfriend in high school who was just out for the family money. Ever since then she hasn’t wanted to be in a relationship and she doesn’t want children. There is drama around the Cannon family. After their dad died their grandparents stepped in to help and their grandfather was abusive mainly to the older brothers and Jake the oldest ended up bullying and abusing McKenna, nobody knew. Jake died in college of alcohol poisoning. McKenna loved him but she hates being around the family when they talk about Jake and how perfect he was. Kenan another brother is marrying Quinn on a ferry. McKenna is walking down the hall when a door opens and hits her in the eye. This is her first encounter with Jack. Jack has moved to Fireweed Harbor to take a job as a hotshot firefighter. He was engaged once before and even though they had discussed not having children, she started putting pressure on him to have children. Jack is also dealing with the fact that his brother Derek is dying from cancer, Derek is moving in with Jack after Jack gets his house ready. Jack met McKenna on the ferry and he thinks she is gorgeous. McKenna thinks Jack is handsome but she reminds herself that she doesn’t want to be in a relationship. Fireweed Harbor is a small town so Jack and McKenna run in to each other a lot. Jack temporarily lives three doors away from McKenna. One night they have sex after they have the talk about relationships and children. Neither wants to stop at one night. They enjoy each other but when their feelings start to develop both try and step back. Derek moves in with Jack and finds out that he has a 17 year old daughter Hannah who is moving in with Jack and Derek because she has no one else. Hannah loves Fireweed Harbor and wants to explore. McKenna offers to take her to the beach. Hannah slips and hurts her ankle. The tide is coming in and McKenna needs help. She texted her brother Rhys but she isn’t sure if it went through because of the bad service. Will Jack be notified of the stranded McKenna and Hannah? Will Jack, Rhys and Griffin be able to rescue Hannah and McKenna? Will Jack and McKenna finally realize that they want to be together? What will happen to Derek and Hannah? Will McKenna finally tell her family that Jake abused her? Will Jack and McKenna find love and happiness in Fireweed Harbor?
