I’ve read lots of Beatle books. For the nerds who know a lot of the history like me, this book delivers all of the people, places and experiences in Beatles world up until 1963. If you thought you knew the story, you didn’t until reading this book. I can hardly wait for the 2nd and eventually 3rd part of the planned trilogy. I could have read this book for another year and not been bored.

Mark Lewisohn gives us the most detailed account of the Beatles early career that anyone has written. All I can say is that I cannot wait for the rest of the story. This is well-researched scholarship that reads quickly and well.

Lewisohn may be a talented researcher, but his “definitive work” is so solidly in favor of his (self-admitted) preferred Beatle John Lennon that some entries can leave you cringing at their inherent bias. This book’s tone feels almost masturbatory.

I’ve been a Beatle fan for 42 years and read a lot of literature on the Fab Four and I would have to say “Tune In” is by far the best exhaustive, detailed documentary I’ve ever encountered reading. It was a challenge prying myself away from this best seller. I really appreciate the time effort and labor of love put into every detail necessary in the book. Mark Lewisohn also stayed true to the integrity of the Fab Four as individuals, never wavering, nor pulling punches; demonstrating the humanistic side of ones character whether flawed or unflawed. Mark literally painted a picture of each milestone of the group’s development from childhood to New Years Eve 1962 giving the reader a glimpse of what it was actually like in that time period. The in depth actual accounts and the stories behind it is highly appreciative. “Tune In” is a must read for any true Beatle fan. I can’t wait for volume 2 to come out, Thank you Mark for taking my enthusiasm for the Fab Four to the next level😊

A really really good book. A great book actually. The only negative is having to wait until 2020 for Part 2 to come out.

As a hard core Beatles fan,I'd thought I'd just about read it all. No so. Mark Lewisohn's Tune In incorporates a level of detail unseen or unheard of in any other book I've ever read about the early years of The Beatles. Who knew that for a while they were "****** 3" ? ( I won't give it away). A must for any serious fan. I can't wait for the next book...
