Description

The modern classic that inspired the beloved movie starring Tom Hanks.

Six foot six, 242 pounds, and possessed of a scant IQ of 70, Forrest Gump is the lovable, surprisingly savvy hero of this classic comic tale. His early life may seem inauspicious, but when the University of Alabama’s football team drafts Forrest and makes him a star, it sets him on an unbelievable path that will transform him from Vietnam hero to world-class Ping-Pong player, from wrestler to entrepreneur. With a voice all his own, Forrest is telling all in a madcap romp through three decades of American history.

I lost IQ points reading this. Absolutely the dumbest book I’ve ever read. It’s amazing that the movie company made such a great movie out of this book. The movie company should have sued the author and got their money back.

One of my favorite movies and I just finished the book some of it was weird compared to the movie but the movie left out a lot of good things all and all I loved this book and will probably read it several more times!

Fantastic. The movie for the book is great but the book is far better.

I watched the movie before reading the book and they are complete opposites!!!! You'd think the Forrest Gump you know in the movie, innocent, came straight from the book, but not really. Still, I think the book was just as good as the movie, if you like adventure and sad but ending that leave you hanging.
  • Not like the movie at all

It was better than the movie! It was the best book I have read on a while. Some people might get surprised that the book is written how Forrest would talk.

Before even reading this book, it should be noted that this book is nothing like its film adaptation. Although many story elements differ from the book and movie, both are great stories, however, I personally prefer the movie. The endings are one of the greatest differences between the two. If you like the movie, you should read this book, just to see where the amazing story of Forrest Gump began.

It surprised me how they adapted the movie from this book. The makers of the movie took great liberties with this story, took like five pages from the book, and made the movie their own story, which made the book a new story to read, which made it interesting. I have to say that without being such a huge fan of the movie I don't think I would have enjoyed the book as much as. It wasn't great, it wasn't terrible, it was just surprising... You'd have to read it to understand.

First, I saw the movie, and it was incredible. It was a very interesting movie and it was fun and exciting and it was just a masterpiece. Then, I read this book, and it was the best book I have ever read. Forrest Gump has changed my outlook on life. It takes the emotions of the movie to a whole new level. Everyone should read this book.

I watched the movie, then got the sample for the book, and I wasn't really impressed. I really liked the movie though! I think the author could of come up with a better way to die for Forrest's dad, besides being squashed by bananas. I don't think I'm going to be purchasing this book.

The book is great. Definitely different than the movie. It's a little bit sadder, but Forrest's adventures are hilarious. A great read.
