Loved this! Book 2 in the Alpha Mountain series and it starts with a bang (literally lol). Hayes, the former SEAL & Megan, the town deputy. They are combustible together, but she’s got a past she wants to hide, so she only wants to keep it physical. He wants so much more. It’s a test of wills to see who wins

Hayes and Megan’s little cat and mouse game intrigued me in book one, so I was glad we didn’t need to wait for their story. Hayes, or Raf, is a character I liked right away, but I had to warm up to Megan. He’s a charming rogue who goes after what he wants, but she played on his feelings a bit too much. I get that she has baggage, which she let get to her in a bad way, so she lost some credibility with me with her about-face. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good story, full of suspense, steam and great banter. But I don’t always love the MCs, even in books I enjoy a lot. This, and Megan, is just one of those times. This book can be read as a stand-alone, but I love the connection between the team, so I always recommend going back and reading previous books, as well, to enjoy the series as a whole.
