Step into a world…
By Tony Tauro
It’s a great story stepping from pandemic big city America to a wonderful sci-fi world of amazing animals and enticing dangers. The story unfolds at an easy pace and does not ever get too intense, or I suspect serious about itself. It’s a nice comfortable and exciting read.
Good, but…..

Scalzi is a gifted writer but his politics are creeping into his work. Hope that doesn’t continue as it impairs the quality of his work
Good not great

Not as entertaining as the authors other works. I can understand the disappointment expressed in the other reviews. It’s pretty thin. It’s well written even if the characters have no depth and the story lacks much detail. Not a bad book to look for on sale.
Big fan

Thought it was well written and plot line was good. I hope for a second one to be written soon
Light, Funny, and Well Thought Out

While I agree with some other reviewers that the Millenial humor is a bit overused because, well, “he lifts things”, overall the plot is very good. It’s a bit of an amusement park ride, with some twists and turns. I really enjoyed it.
Fun

If you love sci-fi, you will love this book. Fun and funny. A book does not need to be great literature in order to be an enjoyable read.
Scalzi phones it in for this one.

Every character has the same voice, same sense of humor, same “witty” chat. This is the most halfhearted and boring book about inter-dimensional travel and giant monsters ever. Lazy writing in this mercifully short book. I used to be a Scalzi fan.
Could have been better

I was really excited for this book and the premise behind it. A book about kaiju that never really details their world beyond the smaller creatures that live there and “you couldn’t comprehend what they looked like if I told you” just feels like a half effort. Knocking off one star for every dialogue exchange being the same sarcastic back and forth for the entirety of the book, and one star for being completely predictable storytelling that never delivered any punch or plot twists.
Fun ride! Easy ready. Loved it

Horrible

Written for 8th graders…maybe. Don’t waste your money and especially your time on this crap.
