Description

Pilot.

Marine.

Mercenary.

My first memory was in the cockpit of a plane. My second was of a uniform. All I'd ever wanted was to be a pilot. The Marines gave me wings and I gave them my all.

Half a dozen deployments, countless flight hours—I knew the controls in the cockpit better than I knew my own name. I never made mistakes. But war didn't care how good you were. One surface-to-air missile and my career was over.

Thinking I'd left dangerous missions and adrenaline rushes in my rearview, I was piloting a seaplane in the Florida Keys when a beat to hell, dark-eyed blonde washed ashore. In nothing but a bikini, she asked me for help. Help I couldn't give without an assist from Alpha Elite Security. Except AES wanted a favor in return… one that would put me right back in the line of fire.

Code name: Romeo.

Mission: Rescue.

It was an okay read. I cared less about the sex trafficking thing entwined into Roark aka Romeo and his introduction to the AES Security Firm. It’s always good to know previous ‘Alpha Heroes’ from other Alpha Books made brief appearances such as Talon, Neil, and Shade. You know in a way it worked well despite of the constant sex trafficking storyline that somehow are frequently portrayed in a few of the books. Also I kind a hoped that just maybe there were more strong willed women with some kind of backbone and inner strength within themselves who could go head to head with the alphas ex-Marines. It took three days give or take to finally finish reading this book. But I’ve read much longer chapters in other books so this wasn’t too bad.

I actually liked the book Alpha but every other book she’s written is filled with the dumbest women you could ever imagine. I understand plot points and moving a story forward but does every one need to involve a dumb woman making a dumb decision because she is broken?

Thank you for sharing this beautiful story with us, Sybil. As a mom myself, my heart is with you even if I cannot fully comprehend your loss. Thank you for writing stories about these awesome, Alpha heroes and sharing with us your talent. Romeo’s story was a good one. I always wanted to know about Roark and we finally get to see him here. Loved their journey as well and Sailor’s heartache and healing was felt for sure.

Holy cow! This is a very emotional book with two very different, but somehow very similar characters. Two broken souls with different reasons for existing, but two souls that are actually one complete one. There are parts that completely gutted me and then I turned the page and was brought back to a sense of understanding and compassion for these tormented people. It still has all the snark I have come to love from Sybil Bartel’s characters, but then there is so much more. I also loved seeing more of the characters in the upcoming novels and I cannot wait for those to be published. This is one I would highly recommend to anyone. Just make sure to have your tissues and for me, wine, handy and get ready for the ride. It’s a good one!!

Roark (Romeo) is one man’s book I’ve been waiting on for many years. And the boy did not disappoint. Lethal, strong, and dominating, Romeo takes his rightful place with AES and with his woman. I’m not going to discuss specifics except to say to trust the process. It’s deep, heart crushing, but soul healing. You can feel the author’s pain and grief through the pages, but she does the story the justice it deserves, beautifully, and hopefully, finds some sort of peace within her own circumstance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
