Your past shouldn’t define you
By Coyotecactus
A great story about redemption and overcoming your past. The author did a wonderful job making me feel what Jesse was going through. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Appearances are so deceiving
By Jenn the Readaholic
Oh, Jesse. I really do like you. You’re doing right in this world, you’re making amends and don’t want anyone to know it, you’re doing your best…and it would appear that people are taking notice of it. But will you and Farah have a real shot at forever, or are you forever doomed to be a secret?
This is an excellent tale of learning and growing after mistakes. And Jesse proves that just because someone did stupid things once doesn’t mean that they’re bad to the core or that they should be judged based on past instead of present. Luckily, Caleb and Farah both see the real Jesse beneath the rumors and exaggerations. Add in the truth of his good deeds and others start to see the same thing. Sure, there are some bumps in the road. But when aren’t there? And these bumps also help to bring some chances at redemption for others, so they’re not just empty bumps to ruin a day. Instead, they may help Farah and Jesse find their way to a love that never needs to hide again.
I look forward to revisiting this series because this author has a way of grabbing me and keeping me fully invested in how it all may turn out. So I know I’ll be back for more soon!

Good portrayal of family and loyalty. Challenges faced once one has tangled with law enforcement handled realistically. Family bonds abound

A ex-con and the deputy sheriff — Jesse and Farah
By mc319
This was a fantastic story. Jesse Rodriguez was an ex-con and had returned to Moore MN to see his sister. Five yrs ago he was sent to prison for starting a fire in Dillon Walker’s shop. He did the time and was trying to be a better man. There were too many people who considered him bad news, but Deputy Farah James was tone of them. A very good storyline with some suspense, intense moments, and tough decisions. I loved the characters and look forward to reading more in this series.
