Story had too much tragedy put into it over the whole story line. Throwing in another man getting her pregnant was over the top. Even the HEA in the end the book left me with a bad vibe! I won’t be buying this author again… struggle is real for us all in romance but this left me almost sick at heart.
  • Uhh

I loved Jamie at the start, even though he was crude. He was still sweet especially when and mercy first met, but for the life of me I hate weak heroines who just forgive jackass men. And that, is exactly what mercy does. Sure she made a mistake, two of them actually, but both were unintentional and neither time did she make those mistakes knowing she was hurting Jamie in any way. Yet he purposely hurts and humiliated her and after being upset at him for a few pages she just forgives him and has the gall to be mad at charity for being upset that she’s just over it? That isn’t even the least bit realistic. Jamie just doesn’t seem to really or truly see fault in the way he’s behaved through the years and can seriously only focus on her mistakes. He didn’t make mistakes he intentionally caused her pain, even watching her cry he almost mocked her. Angst is fine in a teenage love story, but people in their late 20’s behaving like this? Charity was right when she compared Jamie to kolby. Thoroughly disgusted by his piggish behavior. Acting like he wasn’t the one screwing anything with a heartbeat for years while she slept with two people. One of which was a man she was committed to.

It was stated several times that Mercy never loved her fiancée but you find her drowning her sorrows in a bar to get over it. Then has a one night stand where she previously said she’s not that person. Great bones but could’ve been better.

Gah!!! I have missed Anna Brooks’ books so much, and I’m so glad we are getting this series!! Jamie and Mercy definitely had some speed bumps along the way in this story, but their love for each other was front and center. There were moments where I wanted to reach in and smack Jamie, but in the end he became the man we knew he could be. I loved the banter between these two when they were “on”, and I had tears running down my face from laughing so hard at some of their pickup lines lol. An amazing start to this series that I would highly recommend!!
  • Emotional snd angsty. Great start to a new series!

Wow...just WOW!! What an emotional roller coaster!! So many emotions while reading this book. Mercy and Jamie’s story is not hearts and flowers. It has lots of angst and both of them made mistakes and my heart broke for both of them. The chemistry between them was off the charts. The story was sweet and sexy at the beginning and love the banter. But then mistakes happened and I wanted to throw my kindle against the wall. The story spans over a few years and so glad they got their HEA. Justifying Jamie is the first book in Anna Brooks new Rock Series, Reason To Ruin. I can’t wait for the next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STARS!

Jamie and Mercy (or Daisy and Donny) meet one night and fall in love, u til they don’t see each other for 3 years because of a misunderstanding. The struggles these two face in life as they try to get back to each other is so angsty but oh so good. I loved this story. This is a new author for me but I am definitely going back and finding more. And I can’t wait for the rest of the band mates stories! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
