  • Distracting Mistakes

    2
    By Sorceress Sarah
I wanted to rate this book 4 stars because the story is pretty good, but the glaring writing mistakes were difficult to ignore. A supporting character’s name switches from Selena to Serena, and back again, several times throughout the first half of the book. At some point in chapter 8, the author calls a character by the name of another, “Selena and Wes” instead of “Selena and Ryder.” The main character is described as having blonde hair, then dark hair, then blonde, then dark again. There’s also a significant lack of character description that you usually find in a romance novel. What color are the eyes and hair of the love interest, or even the main character? I couldn't tell you.

I read this in an one afternoon, and Katie story was not at all what I expected. When I was first introduced to her in the previous book she was so rigid in her point of view. I really enjoyed reading, and see her break down the walls that she clearly built up herself.
  • Review: Cupids 4: The Breakup Artist

The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe is the fourth book in her slightly connected Cupids series. A standalone romance set in the same world as the other books in the series and connected by friendships with the other characters in those books. This is the story of Katie Peters, the breakup artist, and Wes Baxter, her ex that made her the woman she is today and who's ghosting of her caused her to become the breakup artist. Told in dual POV, set between New York and California, with some crazy movie stars and hollywood business people thrown in, this was a feel-good romance, with some angst, some wonderful back and forth between Katie and Wes, some Hollywood dramatics, some new wonderful friends and an ultimately awesome happily ever after. For me, a Lila Monroe story is like a good friend. Comfort, camaraderie, and a great time had by all. Loved it! Enjoy!

Another one-click winner! Ms. Monroe knows how to add the right amount of humor with a pinch of drama. Her characters are realistic and her storytelling makes each book a page turner that must be read to completion as soon as you start it. A recommended read.

This book is the perfect distraction from all of life’s worries. This is the fourth book in the “Cupids” series that centers around Katie, who is more of an anti-Cupid. Five years ago, she had her heart broken by Wes when he moved to LA without telling her and totally ghosted her. From her heartbreak, she started a blog and became The Breakup Artist, navigating her clients through their breakups. When she is hired by a famous movie star to help with her breakup with her co-star, Wes is the studio lawyer, who is playing Cupid to keep the couple together. This was a light read with a lot of laughs. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.

I absolutely loved reading The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe. It was so much fun to read and I loved the basis of the story so much! Katie is The Breakup Artist. What does that mean? She once had her heart so broken, she wanted to help other women avoid the downfalls of a heartbreak if she could. I loved Katie. She was smart, beautiful and very single-minded. Now she has the chance of a life-time, to help the most famous IT couple navigate through their breakup with a big movie on the way. But the last person she expected to be right along with her is the man who broke her heart all those years ago. Wes Baxter has a job to do. He works for the studio and they want their famous couple to stay together, no matter what. But when he runs into Katie again, he is fascinated by the woman Katie is today. However, Wes is the man that once broke her heart so bad, she created The Breakup Artist. Can he save his career and win Katie back? At the same time, can Katie trust Wes again with her heart? Her job encourages moving on, but the sparks between them are stronger than ever! Their chemistry was undeniable, but both have so much at stake. I just loved reading The Breakup Artist by Lila Monroe. It was the kind of read I needed right now. It was light, charming and low on angst with great characters and a story I loved. Happy reading!

Katie got her heart trampled 5 years ago, and turned it into a career as The Break Up Artist. She’s helped so many people, is about to release a book, and has seemingly moved on. But who should she run into, after having a green kale smoothie dumped down the front of her? You got it, said hot guy who dumped her without a word years ago, Wes. Not once, but twice, the second being with famous actress Selena Owens. When Selena finds out what she does, she decides she needs her help. You get Lila Monroe’s humor & wit as Katie tries to help Selena, tries to figure out if she could do a “backsie” with Wes, and watch Wes try to fix his mistake of years ago. I loved their back and forth, their rediscovering each other, seeing the real them this time around. I loved this! 😍

I am so enjoying this series of stand alones by Ms. Monroe! This is Wes & Katie's story. As always, Ms. Monroe packs the humor, heart and heat into this story of a second chance romance. Katie has finally come to grips over the fact that Wes ghosted her five years ago.  In fact she turned her heartbreak into a lucrative career!  She is a fantastic character!  Katie has grown to know not to hide her real self from anyone anymore.  She learns to love herself and makes no apologies for it. Wes too is a fantastic character! Making a huge mistake of ghosting on Katie when he was young was a real craptacular decision on his part, but he felt like Katie didn't really like him. When they meet again, the sparks fly, their chemistry is still white-hot and their interactions are witty and swoony! This is a fast paced read that I couldn't put down till the very end!! Another stellar story!
